Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University has been ranked in the 601-800 band in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022, which was published on 2 September. It also ranks in the top 50 universities on the Chinese mainland.
THE publishes its definitive list of the world’s best universities annually, and has been providing trusted performance data on universities for students and their families, academics, university leaders, governments and industry, since 2004.
This year’s rankings include 1,662 universities across 99 countries and territories, making them the largest and most diverse university rankings to date.
Based on 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators, the global university league table measures a research-intensive university’s performance across four core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
The indicators are grouped into five areas: teaching and learning environment (30%); research volume, income and reputation (30%); citations and research influence (30%); international outlook for staff, students and research (7.5%); and industry income (2.5%).
One of XJTLU’s strongest areas, citation impact, saw a notable rise in absolute terms, with an increase of 5.4 points compared with last year’s score.
